Artist Bio
All About Rebekah Thurston
When composing a piece of work, my main desire is to create a reaction from my audience whether it’s positive or negative. I think my yearning for this interaction with my viewers comes from my background in dance and musical theatre which has allowed me to understand the importance of costuming, body language and context. It has allowed me to question how to communicate and blend these aspects into my art, to design pieces with strong feelings of emotion and characterisation.
"THE BIRTH OF ELSIE"
The second short film Rebekah has made tells the biography of Elsie, an alter ego that represents rebellion, defiance and provocation. In the film Rebekah discusses Elsie's conception, design choices and creation of the safety pin wig.

"Pierre Is Bored"
“Pierre Is Bored” is inspired by the juxtaposition of an eccentric character in a mundane environment. Pierre is a character I created during lockdown and represents a physical manifestation of my loneliness, anxiety and paranoia during this time. When I gave these feelings a face and a presence, I found it much easier to address them.
